About her work
The three works he presents belong to the HUELLAS series, although the diptych LA HIGUERA (2006 – which appears as the presentation of the exhibition) was painted six years before the series in question. The latter was presented in Basauri (Bilbao) in 2014 under the name HUELLAS, HERIDAS Y LIBÉLULAS.
The title of this exhibition alludes to the traces left in our spirit by experience in all its breadth, as well as by the family. Animal tracks are a metaphor. Footprints in the sand. Autumn. Winter. White. Cold.
A fig tree symbolizes the family. The limbo that is created inside it, between the branches and roots. Its fruit strengthens, nourishes, and repairs. In its shade, one can catch one’s breath. Rest. Perfumed freshness. It is a tree institution. Peace. Silence. The family footprint is indelible. That is why LA HIGUERA is presented in relation to the FOOTPRINTS.
One of the works is dedicated to Irene, niece, to her intense gaze. She is small. She is still forming. That is why it is a soft, almost imperceptible trace in the light. Life.
In these works, one can sense the formal geometric purification that currently characterizes her work.
About Carmen Casas Úbeda
She studies at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Granada. She shares teaching and personal pictorial activities. Both professions are sometimes opposed to each other. The work she presents to us is the result of a constant path along a fine thread in balance. Maximum concentration, calm, silence.
He has presented works nationally and internationally in group and solo exhibitions. Artist in residence at Art House Holland (Leiderdorp – Holland) 2018.
